A simple perspex wedge designed to hold 20mm ball bearings at various heights.
The wedge is placed adjacent to the area being imaged, with a ball bearing placed as near to the plane of interest as possible.
The resulting radiograph will show the ball bearing, this has a known diameter of 20mm; The measuring function of the DICOM viewing software can then be calibrated for this image.
