Imaging Plates are sensitive to scatter. An anti-scatter grid should be used at least as often as one would be used in film/screen radiography.
Low line rate grids may cause a moiré pattern to appear on images if the grid lines are parallel to the CR readers scan lines.
To minimise moiré artefacts it is recommended that grids should have no less than 60 lines/cm. In addition, grid lines should run perpendicular to the plate readers scan lines.
