Dual X -ray and Laser, commonly called DXL, was invented by a team of Swedish doctors, researchers and engineers. It combines a dual-wavelength X- ray source with laser definition of the measurement area. The result is that soft tissue and fatty tissue are excluded from the bone mineralisation reading, resulting in extremely accurate measurements.

DXL offers completely new capabilities for reliable diagnosis of osteopenia and osteoporosis, long before the first fracture might occur. The measurements are highly predictive for all types of brittle bone fractures in the femur, wrist and other bones.
DXL is a quick and patient-friendly measurement technique. It makes it easy to reduce serious patient suffering and the use of significant care resources that are currently associated with osteoporosis-related fractures.

DXL technology not only offers a combination of precision and accuracy unmatched by any other equipment, it is also cost effective and user-friendly.

Earlier, more reliable diagnostics with DXL Calscan

DXL Calscan is our new generation of bone mineral scanners that uses both X-ray and laser technique. Measurements are made in the heel, which consists of 95% trabecular bone. The rapid regeneration of the trabecular bone mass, coupled with the extremely high precision of the DXL Calscan method, enables reliable diagnosis even at the onset or very early stages of bone fragility. The bone mineral value can be determined with an accuracy of better than 2%.

Comparison to other techniques

DXA, a two-component system. DXL, a three-component system.

DXL Calscan scans the patient´s heel in less than a

minute. The process is a dry measurement, without water or gel. A DXL Calscan measurement is painless and comfortable for both patient and operator.

The BMD reading gives the T- and Z-score values and is shown directly on the computer screen. It is presented both in numerical form and as an easy-to-read graph for assessment before discussion with the patient.
